BREEDING

Uroplatus phantasticus are very easy to breed. Eggs are typically buried in substrate or under leaf litter. Best kept in a 1.1.0 pair (1 male & 1 female) but will do great in groups of 1 male and 2 females if given adequate space. Females are typically larger than males. Males display aggression towards other males and sometimes can be to rough with females. Separate at first signs of aggression.

MATURITY

Uroplatus phantasticus reach sexual maturity within 12 months. once established they typically lay eggs every 40 days. Incubation period is 80-120 days.

NATURAL HABITAT

Madagascar.

HUMIDITY

Uroplatus phantasticus require a daily dry out period where humidity should be dropped to 60%( do not allow humidity to drop below 60%). Best to do 1-2 heavy misting at night after the lights go out ( you want to maintain 80%-90% humidity at night. Automatic Misting Systems can help to keep humidity in check. Tank and ventilation dictate humidity levels so adjust ventilation as needed. Joe's Frogs covers half the top with glass and Mist's 30 mins after lights out and a light mist before the lights turn back on.

LIGHTING

Joe's Frogs offers 5.0 UVB Lighting to all of our Satanic Leaf Tailed Geckos. Though some breeders believe it unnecessary do to supplementation we still offer it as fail safe.

HOUSING

Joe's Frogs keeps all hatchlings in 12x12x12 enclosures for the first 3 months then they are introduced to 12x12x18 sized enclosures where pairs are comfortably housed. 

FEEDING

Drosophila Hydei fruit flies and true pin head crickets are easily consumed by

Uroplatus phantasticus for the first 1-2 months of life. After 1-2 months they will easily consume larger 1/4" Crickets then 1/2" Crickets around 3 months, This can vary as all individuals are different and conditions may play a role in the growth rate. All Feeder insects should be dusted with a quality vitamin & mineral supplement.
